"Against All Gods: Does Religion Have a Place in The Modern World?"

Britain’s foremost philosopher provides a new focus for the current debate about religion, arguing that it is time for atheists to challenge religion’s place as a worldview. Do religions have an inherent right to be respected? Is atheism itself a form of religion, and can there be such a thing as a ‘fundamentalist atheist’? Are we witnessing a global revival in religious zeal, or do the signs point instead to religion’s ultimate decline? The debate our society is currently having with itself about religion and multiculturalism has acquired a new urgency. A C Grayling exposes the unreason he sees at the heart of religious faith and champions the alternative – a set of values based on reason, reflection and sympathy, taking his cue form the great ethical tradition of Western philosophy.
