 Ioana Beju Miller

JS Rafaeli
Lectures Director
JS took a Masters Degree in English and Modern History from St. Andrews University.
Then he took another MA from University College London.
He was all set to pursue a PhD and an academic career, but threw it all away for rock n’ roll.
After fronting the cult bands Go Rimbaud, and Angels Fight The City (Fence Records),
he then played as a touring guitarist for The Aliens (EMI), before forming his new
group The Bicycle Thieves. Along the way he has worked as a researcher for the writers
Josephine Hart and William Shawcross, had poems published in various anthologies,
and competed extensively as an amateur boxer.
He has been variously described as a vagrant, a petty crook, a charming and visionary piece of Anglo-American trash,
and an all round swell guy.
